Issue 02: July 2012 | Summer Wedding Season

I know the official start of summer just passed but it already feels like the season is flying by! How is it July already?!? With summer wedding season kicking into high gear, hopefully this heatwave won’t wreak havoc on this week’s celebrations. One of the best things about getting married this time of year is the ability to embrace the outdoors but don’t forget to plan for summertime hazards – bugs, humidity, and summer storms. Stock your welcome bags with bug repellant wipes that guests can slip into their purse, install misters in your reception tent and make sure you have a backup plan for rain – they say it’s good luck anyways and those lightning bolts will make for great photo ops!

June went by in a blur! We’re working out the kinks of the new website and getting our shop ready for it’s big debut. One of the highlights of this month was hosting Melissa Jill’s MJ2Day in Annapolis. It was so great to be surrounded by such a great group of photographers and entrepreneurs eager to take their businesses to the next level. I was happy to soak up all of Melissa’s business savvy and improve my own photography skills as well. I ended up shooting my entire trip to Italy in manual mode – something that felt like advanced calculus only a few weeks ago!

Dave and I celebrated our first year of marriage by spending two weeks in Italy this month. We thought about spending our honeymoon in Europe when we planned our wedding but decided against flying so far from our Arizona event. It was much easier flying directly from the east coast, but having said that, it truly is an incredible destination for anyone scouting their honeymoon spot. The weather in Italy is ideal this time of year and the combination of historic sights and amazing coastal destinations make it a phenomenal choice – not to mention the amazing food! I could not recommend it highly enough!
