Is there any greater love story than Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet, the famous duo from Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice? In order to capture the grandeur of the classic novel in this styled shoot by Stacie Shea Events, we used all three Bennet sisters to fully display our vision of a Jane Austin inspired affair. Each model represented the trio of personalities, Jane the reserved, good natured elder sister, Lydia, the self-involved, gossipy youngest sister, and Elizabeth, our protagonist, the lovely, intelligent, sensible sister. On Friday I updated my website and added this inspiration shoot to my feature gallery … check it out here! We can’t wait to see this session published soon… Here are a few of my favorite images… Enjoy!

The sun set over the gleaming white Sperry Tent encompassing Lori and Jim’s gorgeous Cape Cod waterfront wedding reception at the Mack House. As the guests enjoyed their plated dinner, the vendors relaxed inside with a little break and a bite of hot food. We chatted about the serious gorgeousness that Stacie Shea pulled off planning Lori and Jim’s destination wedding. Martha Stewart herself would have been proud of the way everything came together that day. “I wish you could plan my sister’s wedding in Hawaii” I said over our vendor meals, not really being serious. I mean, Hawaii and Connecticut aren’t exactly proximate… and my sister Stacy lives in Oregon, 3,000 miles west.
I never expected Stacie Shea to take on that kind of long-distance project but I’m so glad I spoke up. By Tuesday of the following week both Stacy and Stacie were on board and the Maui wedding planning plowed full steam ahead. Since my sister doesn’t live in Hawaii, she would have interacted with a planner from a distance regardless of where that person resided. Having Stacie Shea close to me was great for planning meetings during family visits east! And during the week in Maui, she was literally indispensable. I honestly don’t know how couples organize their weddings without the help of a planner… just for the sanity alone!
Stacie, you did such an AMAZING job executing the vision and logistics and all the other complications that a destination wedding entails and I am so glad you were there with us! I know my whole family will concur. She even babysat Cam during the family snorkel trip earlier in the week… it was so fun to have you there! I can’t even imagine how the wedding would have turned out without you. I’m glad I don’t have to! Brides, I urge you to hire a wedding planner, it will not only save your sanity, but give you the assurance that the wedding of your dreams will be executed exactly as you envision. Stacie is located in Greenwich, Connecticut but plans destination events around the country. Seriously… call her!
I promise… that’s the last of the Maui highlights… I just couldn’t help myself!
Brides! There are two weeks left to reserve your ticket to the Luxury Wedding Spotlight at the Harbor View at Norwalk Cove in Connecticut on April 27th. Grab your mom or your favorite bridesmaid and spend a Sunday evening on the water and finalize your list of wedding vendors with this amazing group of industry pros. Check out participating vendors and showcased partners here! I’m so excited to be joining this incredible group of wedding photographers, designers, planners, cinematographers, stationers, bakers and beauty teams together for one exciting event. Don’t miss it!
On Monday I headed up the road to Greenwich to photograph the beautiful Erica Choutka, Stacie Shea’s new lead event planner for their website. Stacie’s firm shares a studio space with several Greenwich wedding vendors and the cute loft filled with great window light for the photographs. Luckily we planned these head shots for Monday afternoon before the snow-pocalypse hit yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much snow fall so fast! We have more than a foot at our house all in one day. Today’s temperature… 2 degrees… with windchill factoring in at minus 21 degrees, let’s just say I won’t be leaving my house until it warms up… yikes!
Enjoy a couple of my favorite images from the session…
Exactly one month ago this morning, I nervously boarded a United fight to Phoenix with Stacie Shea to attend the engage!13 Luxury Wedding Business Summit for the first time at the Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale. Wedding professionals from across the country unite twice a year to celebrate this incredible event at one luxury resort after the next. When Rebecca and Kathryn announced that this winter’s festivities would be in my hometown – I knew it was finally time for me to pull the trigger and sign up!
As the flight jetted toward the valley, I feared that my trip to Engage was a little premature for the state of my business and why did I think this was a good idea anyway? Would it be a waste of money and an unnecessary trip away from my little guy? My fears quickly subsided as I arrived at the hotel (after lunch at In N’ Out of course) with a warm welcome and lots of familiar faces. When Sean Low sat next to me during the opening session… I knew this was going to be a game changing week for me and my business. And it was!
My week at Engage allowed me to make amazing connections with my peers in the wedding industry, I reconnected with old friends, I made lots of new ones… and most importantly… I came home with big ideas for my business and my photography career going forward… not to mention – I had a blast!! And was completely spoiled rotten by Rebecca and Kathryn for a week! The UPS shipment of all the goodies finally arrived over the holiday break… it was insane! Here are some images of all the gifts they showered on us during our stay… these are just a few of many!
Check out these real wedding ideas curated by the Knot from all the engage!13 goodies and activities…
And the most amazing hangover kit of all time… handed to us upon our exit every night… right before a hotel concierge knocked on our door with hot chocolate from the chef… these girls thought of everything!
And this post wouldn’t be complete without the recap video from I Do Films… check it out!
